Almost a decade after she was set to star in the same project, Jennifer Connelly has signed up to join Ewan McGregor for AMERICAN PASTORAL.
The film, an adaptation of the novel by Philip Roth, follows the story of Seymour “Swede” Levov (McGregor), a successful businessman who is living a normal life with his former beauty queen wife Dawn (Connelly) and daughter Meredith, but their lives change dramatically when their daughter commits an act of terrorism in protest of the Vietnam war. PATRIOT GAMES and SALT director Phillip Noyce is set to direct, while John Romano penned the script.
As previously mentioned, this is apparently the second time Noyce has tried to get the project up and running, and he originally wanted Connelly and Paul Bettany to play Swede and Dawn Levov with Evan Rachel-Wood playing their daughter. We wonder who Noyce has planned now?
AMERICAN PASTORAL is set to start filming in Pittsburgh in March.
