Fans of Seth Grahame-Smith might be happy to know that after numerous attempts and director changes, PRIDE AND PREJUDICE AND ZOMBIES looks set to finally make it to the big screen – and they’ve got some brilliant people lined up to star.
ON THE ROAD’s Sam Riley, Downton Abbey’s Lily James and DARK SHADOWS’ Bella Heathcote have all signed up to the front the adaptation of Smith’s undead take on Jane Austen’s classic novel. James will take on the role of Elizabeth Bennett, Riley as Mr Darcy and Heathcote as Elizabeth’s sister. Burr Steers is set to direct the project and also has a writing credit alongside David O. Russell.
PRIDE AND PREJUDICE AND ZOMBIES has been through numerous casting and director changes. At one point O. Russell was set to direct with Natalie Portman starring as Elizabeth, but both dropped out due to other commitments (Portman has stayed on as a producer). Then Emma Stone was offered the role in 2011 but she also declined.
Principle photography is set to start in September, but giving the history of development of this project we’ll believe it when we see the set pictures!
