As well as launching GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY on film, Marvel have been handed the papery keys to an even bigger space opera property, a certain something called STAR WARS. The franchise has a long and sometimes underwhelming history with comic books and Marvel played their part in the legacy, with hardback releases of their previous efforts due in January 2015. Now it has just been announced at San Diego Comic-Con that these will be accompanied by three major series that fill in some of the gaps between Episodes IV – V.
Star Wars, Star Wars: Darth Vader and Star Wars: Princess Leia will follow on from the Death Star’s somewhat impromptu disassembling by Rebel Forces and reveal what happened to some classic characters. Did Chewy have to go into therapy? If he did, how the hell could the therapist work out what he was saying? Star Wars and SW: Darth Vader are to run for the foreseeable future, whereas Leia is limited to five issues.
Bringing these as-yet-untold adventures to readers will be Jason Aaron, Kieron Gillen, John Cassaday, Salvador Larocca, Mark Waid and Terry Dodson. They are tasked with whetting the appetite for the forthcoming EPISODE VII, though of course that is already a hunger with more saliva than Battersea Dogs Home.
