Matt Damon Back As Jason Bourne?

Bourne.

THE BOURNE LEGACY was a moderate success in 2012, and earned just about enough money to secure another instalment in the adrenaline-fuelled franchise. Although the film was an entertaining action thriller with a great cast and some awesome chase sequences, it didn’t quite match up to its three predecessors starring Matt Damon.

Earlier this week it was announced that the second BOURNE film starring Jeremy Renner had been pushed back to 2016, meaning we will have to wait an extra year for the fifth film in the series. However with interest in the franchise clearly dwindling with time, Universal are keen to regain the success it enjoyed with Matt Damon. For that reason it would make perfect sense to grant the wish of every fan and bring back its original star for (potentially) one of the best movie team-ups of all time. And from the sounds of this latest report, that is exactly what they plan to do, as Latino Review’s El Mayimbe is claiming that Damon will return to unite with Renner for the fifth BOURNE film. Ever since the release of THE BOURNE LEGACY, moviegoers have pondered the possibility of the two super assassins sharing the same screen together for one amazing action adventure.

If this proves to be true then it would be interesting to find out what persuaded Damon to finally return to his most famous role, after refusing to come back without Paul Greengrass and a sufficient script for over six years. Maybe it will be more satisfying to see Damon reprise his role as Jason Bourne now, as the world of the franchise has been explored and expanded more deeply with Renner’s Aaron Cross in THE BOURNE LEGACY. Either way now that THE FAST THE FURIOUS’ Justin Lin is behind the wheel on the Bourne franchise, we can expect a much more exciting and action packed film that (hopefully) revitalises the decade old series. Lets just pray that Damon truly is on board and then we can begin to thank the movie gods every day until 15th July 2016 when the film hits theatres.

the last ‘bourne’ film was simply ‘a chemistry lesson’!….boring!
it’s easier said than done, but all that’s required is a great script from tony Gilroy, patch things up with paul greengrass…matt comes on board, and boom!…back in business!….
universal are sitting on a goldmine, but they need to get these 3 guys together…and butt heads!…it’s not rocket science!
I mean, why do you think the ‘bond’ producers went for Daniel craig?
matt damon as ‘Jason bourne….that’s why!
