Saturday afternoon, and there’s lots going on. We’ve torn ourselves away from the rugby and our pre-boxing drink up to bring you news that a STARSHIP TROOPERS reboot might be on the way. Maybe. The folks over at Collider got wind of this first, and by this we mean the Twitter feed of Megan Ellison of production outfit Annapurna, and specifically this tweet:
Would you like to know more?
— Megan Ellison (@meganeellison) May 31, 2014
The folks responded to her with a picture of Neil Patrick Harris with that slogan embedded across the front of it, to which Ellison replied simply: ‘Yes.’
STARSHIP TROOPERS was released in 1997 to much cult acclaim. It was directed by the legendary Dutch filmmaker Paul Verhoeven and also starred Casper Van Dien, Jake Busey and Denise Richards. It was bloody awesome. Now, this rumour is very loose, but the guys at the site might be on to something here.
AnnaPurna Pictures are currently hard at work on the new TERMINATOR movie, and have the Cannes favourite FOXCATCHER on their slate for 2014.
So, how do we all feel about a STARSHIP TROOPERS reboot? Too soon? Discuss.
