Breaking Bad‘s win at the BAFTA TV Awards last night was a momentous occasion, if only because it isn’t shown on regular television. The show, that’s found a home on Netflix UK, has a legion of British fans and Aaron Paul, who accepted the award, was on hand to discuss what this win meant to him.
The actor, who played Jesse Pinkman on the show, admitted that he does re-watch old episodes. ‘There’s an episode in season two called Four Days Out,‘ he said. ‘It takes place in the desert, just Bryan [Cranston] and I … trying to figure a way to get the RV to start up again.’ He went on to explain that the reason that episode is such a favourite of his was because ‘…it felt like a two-man play.‘
Of course, fans of the show will get to return in a manner of speaking, thanks to the announcement that Better Call Saul with Bob Odenkirk will be being made, but will Paul be making an appearance? ‘If they’ll have me! It would be nice to play Jesse Pinkman again in his…happier times. It would be great.’
The actor has since gone on to play more intense roles in films like A LONG WAY DOWN and now HELLION. ‘I try and leave it on the set,‘ he explained, acknowledging his wife for understanding his process. ‘I don’t know why I gravitate towards the darker side of things, it just makes me feel crazy emotions…‘
He clearly is so very proud of his work on Breaking Bad and is a fan of the show just as much as those watching it at home. ‘I know I’m biased,‘ he added, ‘but I truly believe it’s one of the greatest television shows that has ever been made.‘
