Earlier today it was confirmed that both David Tennant and Olivia Coleman would return for series 2 of the smash hit ITV drama series Broadchurch. Not to be outdone Fox, the studio behind the US remake Gracepoint, has just released the first picture of their version which features Breaking Bad’s Anna Gunn alongside Tennant:
Safe to say Tennant looks just as miserable as he did in Broadchurch which we’re very happy about; Tennant does mean and moody like no other! She proved she’s an absolute class act in Breaking Bad and, depending on how much the script and story are changed for US audiences, it will be interesting to see Gunn’s take on the Coleman character. The show, created by Chris Chibnall, follows the story of a small town who is brought to a standstill after the murder of a young school boy named Danny Latimer. The final episode, in which Coleman’s D.S. Miller discovers it was in fact her husband who murdered Danny, is a pure masterclass in acting and if Gunn is to re-create that magic it would be something special.
Not many details of the Gracepoint has been released as yet but we do it the move across the pond relocates the drama to a seaside California town, where a media frenzy spurred by a homicide upends the lives of a sprawling cast of characters. Nick Nolte and Jacki Weaver have also signed on for the U.S. version.
We can’t decide if we’re more excited about Broadchurch season 2 or Gracepoint season 1. Either way, it’s very exciting times for British drama.
