Channing Tatum is a brilliant example of a fantastic actor to rise from obscurity to Hollywood stardom within the last ten years. After initially receiving criticism for poorly chosen roles in lightweight, underwritten films such as G.I. JOE: THE RISE OF COBRA and DEAR JOHN, Tatum is now one of the most highly regarded actors in Hollywood.
The MAGIC MIKE star will next be seen in this summers JUPITER ASCENDING and 22 JUMP STREET, which are both looking to be brilliant popcorn flicks for a hopefully entertaining summer. It seems that the partnership between Tatum and Sony on the latter of his upcoming summer films, has lead to another upcoming project in the pipeline. It is being reported that Tatum will star in a brand new crime thriller for Sony which he will also produce alongside Reid Carolin, Craig Zadan and Neil Meron (86th Academy Awards). You can read a brief plot synopsis for the currently untitled film below:
‘Set in the late 1970s, the untitled project is described as the inspiring true story of an ordinary family man who decides to risk everything by going undercover to take down the biggest mob boss in the country’.
The script will be written by Kristin Gore (86th Academy Awards) and although the film has no official release date yet, expect the success of 22 JUMP STREET to have a huge impact on how fast the project moves along the production line.
