The Channel 4 news team were an instant hit when ANCHORMAN first arrived, bringing hilarity, singing prowess, that moustache, catchphrases, cologne and the love of a certain lamp. With Ron Burgundy at the helm and Champ, Brick and Brian on hand to worship and adore him – or, in Brick’s case, just follow him around like a lost puppy – the team soon became one of the best, most entertaining teams seen in cinema, so it was no surprise when a sequel was made.
Of course, they are not the only team who have set cinema screens ablaze, with many others proving popular years after the film’s first release.
Here are some of our favourite film teams:
THE GOONIES
These youngsters were fiercely loyal to each other and in the film they managed to rope in a few more less-than-willing members to the team. Their key weapons included a map in the attic, an adventure and, of course, the now infamous truffle shuffle. Throw in a kid who knows how to set incredible boobie traps (but can’t pronounce the word), a cheeky chappy who never leaves home without his comb, a kid glued to his inhaler, and a big brother too cool to be babysitting and THE GOONIES is one of the greatest teams from the childhood of many film-fans. I, no doubt, like many other fans of the film, wanted to watch their adventures but mostly I wanted to be part of them!
GHOSTBUSTERS
Who you gonna call? Bill Murray, obviously. Ghosts, peril, an awesome van and hilarious comedic timing throughout – GHOSTBUSTERS really did have it all. With a brilliant cast that also included Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson and the late Harold Remis, it’s a team people still want to be a part of today, as evident by the amount of people who still watch the film, still dress up as the Ghostbusters team and still sing the theme song, forty years after the film’s original release.
THE BREAKFAST CLUB
They certainly were not a team at the start of the film but THE BREAKFAST CLUB did become one by the end, having been thrown together in detention and forced to spend an entire day in each other’s company. Each the very epitome of a high school stereotype, THE BREAKFAST CLUB proved to teenagers everywhere that there would be a home for them at some point, no matter how much of an outsider they were.
RED
This team may be a little older than the others but it loses none of the energy or spark. With the elite in the older acting generation – including a gun-toting Dame Helen Mirren – on hand to bring down the bad guys, you can’t go far wrong. Throw in Bruce Willis and a hilariously unhinged John Malkovich and this is an elite team you wouldn’t want to mess with, or have over for dinner.
ANCHORMAN 2: THE LEGEND CONTINUES is released on DVD on 28th April.
