This will be the greatest news you’ll hear all today, and perhaps all year. In 2015, a movie based on the comic strip and 1980s cartoon BANANAMAN will hit cinemas. Yes, you are reading that correctly, a BANANAMAN movie is coming! Millions of kids from the eighties scream in anticipation.
News reaches us this morning via Den Of Geek that an official movie website has popped up at BananamanMovie.com. All that features over there at the moment is the following screen, and the iconic theme tune playing in the background. Yikes!
The TV series, which ran from 1983-1986, revolved around Eric Wimp, a young lad that gained special powers whenever he ate a banana. The original comic strip on which the cartoon was based, was created by Dave Donaldson, written by Steve Bright and drawn by John Geering right up until 1999. It has since appared in British comics The Beano and The Dandy. Bananaman, the character, is widely considered a parody of Superman and Batman with hints of Captain Marvel and Marvelman.
A 2015 film looks like it will be produced by Elstree Studio, as their logo features on the bottom right of the website’s landing page.
Are we ready to take a trip back to 29 Acacia Road?
