Director of the upcoming THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 Marc Webb has revealed more regarding his superhero sequel, and has addressed fan concerns that the film will feature too many villains.

Speaking to South By South West, Webb bought up the subject of the villain quota in the film, and how fans had no need to be concerned about the number of new characters (namely Electro, the Green Goblin and Rhino) being squeezed in to the film, saying:

“It’s about writing. We’re aware of those movies and the complaints people had/ The main villain is Electro. Every other villain emerges around that. We were careful to make sure the stories entertained. You had to make sure to create obstacles that were difficult to overcome. We wanted to make the physical and emotional obstacles difficult.”

He continued – and revealed:

“Rhino is in it for four minutes so it’s a legitimate comparison, but when you see the movie, I’m confident.”

THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 is released in the UK on the 18th April and in the US 2nd May.

From an early age, Matt Dennis dreamt of one day becoming a Power Ranger. Having achieved that dream back in the noughties, he’s now turned his hand to journalism and broadcasting. Matt can often be found in front of a TV screen, watching his current favourite shows such as DOCTOR WHO, GAME OF THRONES, SHERLOCK, DAREDEVIL, and THE WALKING DEAD, though he’s partial to a bit of vintage TV from yesteryear. Matt also co-presents the Geek Cubed podcast, which you can download from iTunes. It’s quite nice.
