After four years of silence on the SHREK front, DreamWorks Animation CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg has revealed that there is a possibility of a fifth instalment of the SHREK movie, although when this will be is still unknown.
In a interview with Fox Business Network scheduled to run next Tuesday, Katzenberg said:
“We like to let them have a little bit of time to rest. But I think you can be confident that we’ll have another chapter in the Shrek series. We’re not finished, and more importantly, neither is he.”
And in even better news for all Shrek lovers on this side of the Atlantic, London will see the opening of its first Shrek-themed visitor attraction in summer 2015. On Monday DreamWorks announced that it will be joining forces with Merlin Entertainments to launch the attraction called Shrek’s Far Far Away Adventure, where visitors will be able to go through a live interactive adventure featuring their favourite characters from the movie franchise, including Shrek, Fiona, Donkey, Puss in Boots and more. The plans don’t stop in London though. Apparently, the London Shrek attraction is only the first of six other attractions planned to be set up over the next nine years!
So if you still thought that fairytales end with a Happy Ever After, guess again. It may be a Happy Ever After for Shrek and Fiona, but we are nowhere near the end of their journey.
