Warner Bros’ THE LEGO MOVIE has surpassed all expectations and become a huge success both critically and financially. The toy-based film from Phil Lord and Chris Miller (21 JUMP STREET) has already grossed over $200 Million worldwide and tripled its budget, making it a massive success after a mere two weeks of release. Recently we learned that Warner Bros’ spin-off film LEGO NINJAGO, may be arriving before the direct sequel which cast some doubt about when we may see THE LEGO MOVIE 2 hit theatres.

Well now Warner Bros have officially announced that THE LEGO MOVIE 2 will indeed arrive as planned and will be released 26th May 2017. The film has no doubt been scheduled for the memorial day weekend due to the huge success of its predecessor, which has clearly given Warner Bros substantial confidence in their new franchise. It’s currently unknown if directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller will be returning for the sequel and which cast members will return to lend their voices for another round of Lego-action. However don’t be surprised to see the main players returning for the highly anticipated sequel (Chris Pratt, Elizabeth Banks etc). In the mean time we still have LEGO NINJAGO arriving within the next couple of years, which should help to fill the void between now and May 2017.
