Franco To Direct Adaptation ‘The Disaster Artist: My Life Inside The Room’

Writer/director/producer/actor/scholar James Franco is attached to direct the adaptation of book The Disaster Artist: My Life Inside The Room, written by Greg Sestero and Tom Bissell.

Sestero starred in the Tommy Wiseau-directed THE ROOM, a ‘so-bad-its-good’ black comedy, given a measly 3.4 on IMDb. Now considered a cult classic, Wiseau’s feature bombed at the box-office, but with his engaging charm and enthusiasm he’s become a sort-of celebrity. Sestero’s book recalls his time on set, the crew, and his co-stars…all of whom regularly gave up/were fired. Sounds like an interesting read!

Franco is set to direct and co-produce alongside Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, with younger brother Dave rumoured to star. I’m not sure how this adaptation will work – will it feature some of THE ROOM’s co-stars? Will it make sense if you haven’t seen the film? We’ll have to wait and see. For now, take a look at the trailer for THE ROOM and let us know what you think (it’s awful!).

Considering Jazmine grew up watching CARRY ON SCREAMING, THE LION KING and JURASSIC PARK on repeat for weeks on end, it made sense for her to study film at London South Bank University. It’s also a good thing that her course requires a lot of sitting down because she’s very accident-prone. When she’s not examining her bruises, she likes pretending that she doesn’t live in Southend-On-Sea and spends hours mindlessly blogging. Favourite films include BLUE VALENTINE, ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND and TOY STORY 2.
