DiCaprio & Hill Together Again For Richard Jewell Story

the-wolf-of-wall-street-jonah-hill-leonardo-dicaprio-600x400THE WOLF OF WALL STREET Oscar Nominated duo, Leonardo DiCaprio and Jonah Hill will reteam for Fox’s true life tale of Richard Jewell. Based on the Vanity Fair article ‘The Ballad Of Richard Jewell’, it will recount the story of the security guard who discovered a suspicious backpack at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta. Jewell, to be played by Hill, was first hailed as a hero but soon found himself one of the key suspects in the case. DiCaprio will play the lawyer who guides Jewell through the hellish nightmare.

The story is a fascinating one and is something I’d never heard which just highlights its necessity to become a film. After a newspaper suggested that Jewell fit the profile of a bomber, his whole world was turned upside down. This sounds like a very meaty role for Hill’s dramatic career path, as well as a much needed cautionary tale about the dangers of media judgments, something that is very relevant in this day and age. DiCaprio and Hill have already proven their chemistry and talent in Martin Scorsese’s fantastic THE WOLF OF WALL STREET, so this is bound to be a winner. Jewell died in 2007 aged just 44, but fortunately by then his name had been cleared.
