Any film where the title rhymes immediately gains my attention. Add to that the fact ROB THE MOB reteams Andy Garcia with director Raymond De Felita, who worked together on the fantastic CITY ISLAND, and I am immediately hooked. Set in Queens in 1992, the film sees Michael Pitt decide to do exactly what the title suggests. But once Pitt also makes off with a copy of the mob’s family tree, he finds not only the mob wanting revenge but also the FBI wanting assistance.
Although it certainly has comedic elements, there is also a serious and dark vibe to the project, especially if you look up the true story on which the film is based.
ROB THE MOB is released later this year. It stars Michael Pitt, Nina Arianda, Ray Romano, and Andy Garcia.
Luke likes many things, films and penguins being among them. He's loved films since the age of 9, when STARGATE and BATMAN FOREVER changed the landscape of modern cinema as we know it. His love of film extends to all aspects of his life, with trips abroad being planned around film locations and only buying products featured in Will Smith movies. His favourite films include SEVEN SAMURAI, PASSION OF JOAN OF ARC, IN BRUGES, LONE STAR, GODZILLA, and a thousand others.
