Johnny Depp is currently shooting his latest role in Lionsgate‘s MORTDECAI, which sees him portray “debonair art dealer and part-time rogue Charles Mortdecai”, in director David Koepp’s adaptation of the 1970s novel series by Kyril Bonfiglioli. The film marks the first time director and star have worked together since the disappointing Stephen King story, SECRET WINDOW.
We’ve more names joining the cast of MORTDECAI, which has a screenplay by Eric Aronson. Aubrey Plaza, Oliver Platt and Jeff Goldblum are the latest names included in the project that also features Gwyneth Paltrow, Ewan McGregor, Olivia Munn, Paul Bettany, Guy Burnet, Michael Byrne, Michael Culkin, Jonny Pasvolsky, Ulrich Thomsen and Paul Whitehouse. The official plot synopsis goes as follows:
Juggling some angry Russians, the British Mi5, his impossibly leggy wife and an international terrorist, debonair art dealer and part time rogue Charlie Mortdecai (Depp) must traverse the globe armed only with his good looks and special charm in a race to recover a stolen painting rumored to contain the code to a lost bank account filled with Nazi gold.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
