Despite the macabre nature of such things, real-life based thrillers always go down a treat and after Casey Affleck was confirmed for BOSTON STRANGLER last month, it now looks like they’ve bagged former ONE HOUR PHOTO and NEVER LET ME GO director Mark Romanek to bring one of the most notorious US serial killer’s story to big-screen life.
Both those two films mentioned are strewn with atmosphere, so this does seem like a perfect team-up if it’s all confirmed. The script is by Chuck Maclean, who first pitched the project, with Casey Affleck on-board as an executive producer and bagging himself a role in the process.
If those who don’t know, the story would be set in the early 1960s and based on the true story of Albert DeSalvo. There’s rumours of a tone similar to SEVEN and ZODIAC and…to be honest…everything here seems pretty darn perfect for a very interesting and cult-classic production. With Romanek in late discussions and Affleck already confirmed, we hope this Warner Bros one is a go.
