We’re all eagerly awaiting Sacha Baron Cohen’s next comedy. While THE DICTATOR wasn’t as good as previous efforts, his performances in the likes of Martin Scorsese’s HUGO and Tom Hooper’s LES MISERABLES movie were top notch, not to mention his appearance at the Brittania Awards last month, where he ‘killed’ the veteran actor who presented him with his comedy award.
Cohen’s next film will be one entitled GRIMSBY, which according to the trade paper Variety, will revolve around a British black ops agent who is forced to go on the run with his long-lost brother, who is a northern English soccer hooligan. The word on the street is that Cohen was after a director with an action background for the project, and it looks like he’s found it in French helmer Louis Letterier (THE TRANSPORTER 2, THE INCREDIBLE HULK, UNLEASHED). Great choice, as let’s not forget that Letterier comes from the Luc Besson school of filmmaking, and it will be interesting to see what he does with an action film set in the north of England.
Shooting on this one is expected to take place next year, ahead of the planned NOW YOU SEE ME sequel, which Letterier is also attached to direct.
