Luke Evans Flies As ‘The Crow’ Finds A ‘Walking Dead’ Replacement?

The_Crow_010

Fans of James O’Barr’s graphic novel and of course Alex Proyas’ cult supernatural revenge adaptation THE CROW have been waiting for quite some time for the much-anticipated remake. Originally a project for Juan Carlos Fresnadillo and star Bradley Cooper, a shift in creativity saw both drop out. It was later confirmed FAST & FURIOUS 6 star Luke Evans would take on the role of Eric Draven (previously played by the tragic Brandon Lee) with BEFORE THE FALL’s F. Javier Gutiérrez taking the helm.

Well, again things are apparently changing with Evans no longer involved. We’re hearing his origin tale of Bram Stoker’s vicious vamp DRACULA UNTOLD is causing possible scheduling conflicts and he’s out. The studio are now said to be eying The Walking Dead‘s Norman Reedus as a replacement. Best known for his current role as Daryl Dixon in the AMC’s hugely successful zombie series, Reedus has previously featured in THE BOONDOCK SAINTS, BLADE II and PANDORUM.

In addition, TWILIGHT misery guts Kristen Stewart was being considered for the role of the rocker’s murdered girlfriend Shelley but Relativity Media have moved on to other actresses.

As ever, we await confirmation but we’ll keep you posted on any further developments.

***UPDATE*** Apparently Evans remains onboard. It’s thought Relativity Media were looking at Reedus if these scheduling conflicts did interfere. They have been assured Evans will indeed be available.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
