Anything with ‘NUT’ in the title deserves a special mention, as you can just imagine the jokes the film has in store. As the tagline reads ‘No Nuts, No Glory’ you can expect a number of double entendres based around male genitalia. But let’s not also forget that this is family friendly animated viewing too. Featuring the voice talents of Will Arnett and Liam Neeson (who told Ricky Gervais he wanted to do more comedy), the film sees a squirrel named Surly (Arnett) plan a heist of nuts to save his friends in his park. Simple, but probably good for a number of laughs.
I’m always excited for any animation that doesn’t come from one of the big studios, as they can often bring great material to make up for a lack of polish. For example HOODWINKED. However, they can also go the other way, where ideas are just slapped across the page with no rhyme or reason; for example, HOODWINKED TOO!
THE NUT JOB is released in the US on 17th January. It stars the vocal stylings of Will Arnett, Brendan Fraser, Gabriel Iglesias, Liam Neeson, and Katherine Heigl.

Luke likes many things, films and penguins being among them. He's loved films since the age of 9, when STARGATE and BATMAN FOREVER changed the landscape of modern cinema as we know it. His love of film extends to all aspects of his life, with trips abroad being planned around film locations and only buying products featured in Will Smith movies. His favourite films include SEVEN SAMURAI, PASSION OF JOAN OF ARC, IN BRUGES, LONE STAR, GODZILLA, and a thousand others.
