Watch! New Trailer For Big-Screen Adaptation Of Veronica Roth’s ‘Divergent’ With Q&A Event

THN were never over-awed by the exclusive footage of Veronica Roth’s Young Adult adaptation DIVERGENT when venturing across the pond to San Diego Comic Con. Perhaps knowing bugger all about the books didn’t help but the film directed by a filmmaker I like very much in Neil Burger, looked rather tepid and uninspiring. We hoped they were keeping the exciting scenes under-wraps.

Well, find out for yourself and see if DIVERGENT is worth coughing up some dough with this countdown to new full-length trailer, which hit the UK at 4.30pm and will be followed by a Q&A with director Burger at 5pm. Don’t forget to catch the latest poster which arrived yesterday.

In a future world people are divided into factions based on personality —Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent)—, a teenager is warned she is Divergent and will never fit into any one group. During the highly competitive initiation that follows, Beatrice renames herself Tris, and struggles alongside her fellow initiates to live out the choice they have made. Together, they must undergo extreme physical tests of endurance and intense psychological simulations, some with devastating consequences. As initiation transforms them all, Tris must determine who her friends really are—and where, exactly, a romance with a sometimes-fascinating, sometimes-exasperating boy fits into the life she’s chosen. But Tris also has a secret: one she’s kept hidden from everyone, because she’s been warned it can mean death. And as she discovers unrest and growing conflict that threatens to unravel her seemingly-perfect society, she also learns that her secret might be what helps her save those she loves… or it might be what destroys her.
