Screenwriter and actor Kevin Smith thought all his Christmases had come at once when he saw the new Batman costume in a sneak preview. Smith, a huge comic book fan, said it was ‘mind-bending,’ after Zack Snyder showed him photos, including one of Ben Affleck suited up.
Smith, who found fame with cult movie CLERKS in 1994, was clearly in fan-boy heaven. “You have not seen this costume in a movie on film before,’ he said earlier today. ‘It’s its own thing, man. It’s like we haven’t been down this path at all. I was so elated,’ he went on to say.
Synder’s sequel to MAN OF STEEL stars Henry Cavill as Superman and Ben Affleck as The Caped Crusader. BATMAN V SUPERMAN will hit cinemas in 2015. And if Smith’s exuberance is anything to go by, we’ll be treated to a Batman who will please even hardened comic fans.
So what will the new Batsuit look like? Smith hinted that anything in ‘black armour’ is gone so that luckily rules out Azrael Batman from the ’90s (whilst not black it was definitely spiky). Perhaps it’s time for a Neal Adams inspired blue and grey costume? My money’s on Jim Lee’s Hush Batsuit.
