Another trio of names could soon be set to join the already confirmed Katee Sackhoff (RIDDICK), Gina Carano (HAYWIRE) and Sharni Vinson (YOU’RE NEXT) in the all-female version of the action ensemble franchise, THE EXPENDABLES. Millennium Films chief Avi Lerner has claimed in the Bulgarian press that he is negotiating with superstar actresses Meryl Streep, Cameron Diaz and Milla Jovovich to feature in the forthcoming untitled project currently known as THE EXPENDABELLES. Lerner also confirmed he’s looking at potential female directors in keeping with everything “all woman”.
The film has a script by LEGALLY BLONDE scribes Karen McCullah Lutz and Kirsten Smith but could this all be bravado on the part of the producer (and would Steep in particular even touch anything like this)? We suspect his back-up (or addition casting) will include TERMINATOR’s Linda Hamilton, ALIEN’s Sigourney Weaver, THE LONG KISS GOODNIGHT’s Geena Davis (who’s actually skilled in archery!) and basically anyone from the MACHETE franchise.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
