Ford Confirms ‘Blade Runner’ Sequel Talks With Ridley Scott

Talent Names -

After retuning to the world of ALIEN in the fantastic, yet ultimately flawed PROMETHEUS, visionary director Ridley Scott will soon return to another of his seminal works with a sequel to 1982s sci-fi classic BLADE RUNNER. Very little is known about the forthcoming follow-up but with the original a notoriously troubled production for all involved, it was widely expected to take a different direction and away from Harrison Ford’s cult character of Rick Deckard – the replicant-hunting hero of the futuristic thriller (who may or may not have been a replicant himself).

That now may not be the case as Ford, who is currently promoting his role in another sci-fier, ENDER’S GAME, has confessed that he’s spoken the Scott about the soon-to-shoot sequel.

We’ve been chatting about it. I remember [the first film] with ‘complication’ but I’m not there to generate nostalgic moments, I’m there to do a job of work. I quite understand that everyone has an ambition when they come into a film and everyone’s ambition may not be so focused on the same thing. I truly admire Ridley as a man, and as a director and I would be very happy to engage again with him in the further telling of this story.

It’s a comment that could excite fans and suggests he could be nailed on to return! What do you guys think?

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
