Sony Pictures Animation are going hands-on with their advertising for upcoming sequel CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF MEATBALLS 2. Hands on food, that is. Starting tomorrow, two film-themed trucks will be touring America selling a variety of healthy meals and snacks based on the film’s ‘foodimal’ characters. The foodimobiles (what a fantastic name) will be stopping off at family-friendly locations across the US with a deliciously wacky menu featuring tacodiles, hippotatomuses, fruit cockatiels, watermelophants, alongside other healthy foods like carrots and celery. The food, provided by the film’s sponsors including Subway and the National Watermelon Promotion Board, will be given to hungry customers with kid-friendly recipe cards teaching them how to make their own ‘foodimals’ at home. Sony’s campaign looks set to serve the joint purpose of promoting the film and encouraging children to eat healthily. The news has surely made many intrigued to find out what exactly a hippotatomus is.

In the film, inventor Flint Lockwood finds that the spaghetti-spawning weather machine from the first film is now creating food animals (hence ‘foodimals’) and joins up with his friends to battle them and save the day. Perhaps giving audiences the opportunity to chew on the villainous creatures prior to release is the first step towards victory.
CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF MEATBALLS 2’s all-star voice cast includes Bill Hader, Anna Faris, Andy Samberg and Neil Patrick Harris. It opens on 27th September.
