The first stills have been released for the upcoming ‘based on a true story’ film DEVIL’S KNOT. Directed by Atom Egoyan, the film tells the story of three teenage heavy metal fans from West Memphis, Arkansas, who were convicted of the murder of three eight-year-olds in 1993. Known as the West Memphis Three, the case became known for its distinct lack of evidence for their conviction.
As the subject of PARADISE LOST, Joe Berlinger’s and Bruce Sinofsky’s award-winning documentary series, and another documentary, WEST OF MEMPHIS, produced by Peter Jackson, the Three were freed from imprisonment in 2011 thanks to their new advocates under an Alford plea, allowing them to proclaim innocence but retain their convictions.
This new film, DEVIL’S KNOT, is based on the 2002 Mara Leveritt book of the same name and stars Colin Firth as private investigator Ron Lax, who used DNA evidence to persuade courts that the three men may not have been guilty. The second still below also shows Collette Wolfe, star of YOUNG ADULT, as a fellow investigator.
