The sad death of GLEE star Cory Monteith has given intense crime-thriller McCANICK a bigger share of the spotlight for the film’s upcoming premiere at the forthcoming Toronto International Film Festival. Led by the brilliant David Morse, the film sees the underrated character actor as hot-headed detective Eugene McCanick. He’s a top cop harbouring a dark secret and paranoia pushing into more extreme acts with the release of Monteith’s former drug-addicted criminal, who’s the only person who knows his mysterious past.
McCANICK is directed by Josh C. Waller and we have the first poster from the film co-starring Ciaran Hinds, Mike Vogel, Rachel Nichols, Trevor Morgan, Aaron Yoo, and Tracie Thoms. We’re still awaiting general release dates in both the UK and US but you can find the first trailer HERE, if you missed it.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
