‘Tangled’ Director Takes On Disney’s ‘Zootopia’

If our other news items on Pixar’s future releases and sequel news for FINDING DORY haven’t got you excited, then it’s doubtful this next piece of news will as I’m afraid it’s more animated goodness. This time it’s pure Disney, with not a hint of Pixar to be found, as they announce a director and give us some concept art for ZOOTOPIA. ZOOTOPIA is a buddy action comedy that features a fox accused of a crime he didn’t commit and the rabbit police officer that is also implicated in the resulting conspiracy. Byron Howard, who impressed many with his rendition of Rapunzel in  Disney’s TANGLED, will direct based on a script by Jared Bush. As you can imagine from the title, the whole film is set in a modern day society populated by animals, which will probably mean lots of puns and sight gags.

ZOOTOPIA will hit screens in 2016, so you’ve got some time to save for tickets. Awesome!

Here’s the official synopsis:

In the animal city of Zootopia, a fast-talking fox who’s trying to make it big goes on the run when he’s framed for a crime he didn’t commit. Zootopia’s top cop, a self-righteous rabbit, is hot on his tail, but when both become targets of a conspiracy, they’re forced to team up and discover even natural enemies can become best friends.
