There have been some rumours over the past few days that director JJ Abrams was possibly going to relieve his directing duties on STAR WARS EPISODE VII, allegedly largely due to the fact that Disney and LucasFilm are insisting that the film shoots in the UK, something that Abrams was said to be against, mainly because of personal issues in that he has always shot in the US where his family are.
Now, Lucasfilm have released an official statement, which reads:
“There is no truth to the rumour. J.J. is having a great time working on the script and is looking forward to going into production next year.”
We’ve just had an almighty Comic-Con over here in San Diego, and the notable absence was anything STAR WARS movie related, which we were all really disappointed with. We were all kind of hoping for a first casting announcement, or title, but it didn’t come. Maybe these rumours were started by some pissed off fanboy because of our expectations not being met at Comic-Con… who knows? I’m still looking forward to 2015 when the film will hit cinemas, and I fully expect Abrams to be at the helm.
