Yukio’s The Focus In Latest Featurette For ‘The Wolverine’

Fans of Marvel’s adamantium-clawed, cigar-choping mutant Logan have been fortunate over the last few days to see a bunch of promotional content from the X-MEN spin-off sequel, THE WOLVERINE. James Mangold is at the helm of the comic-book adventure based on the celebrated arc by Chris Claremont and Frank Miller. Of course, THE WOLVERINE wouldn’t be the same without good ol’ Hugh Jackman returning and so he does for the sixth time (and a seventh on the way with Bryan Singer’s currently shooting X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST).

This latest featurette introduces us to the ass-kicking heroine, Yukio (played by Rila Fukushima).

Based on the celebrated comic book arc, this epic action-adventure takes Wolverine, the most iconic character of the X-Men universe, to modern day Japan. Out of his depth in an unknown world he faces his ultimate nemesis in a life-or-death battle that will leave him forever changed. Vulnerable for the first time and pushed to his physical and emotional limits, he confronts not only lethal samurai steel but also his inner struggle against his own immortality, emerging more powerful than we have ever seen him before.

THE WOLVERINE is unleashed on the 26th July and co-stars Svetlana Khodchenkova, Famke Janssen, Hiroyuki Sanada, Hal Yamanouchi, Tao Okamoto and Brian Tee.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
