With Universal Pictures and producer Steven Spielberg now targeting their blockbusting sequel JURASSIC PARK IV for summer 2015, rather than a rushed 2014, the pressure’s off SAFTY NOT GUARANTEED director Colin Trevorrow to deliver the dino epic. Well, we say the “pressure’s off” but he’s going to have to give us a prehistoric pièce de résistance to top Spielberg’s 20 year-old pic.
Rumours of a return to Isla Nublar for the fourth film suggest the carnivore carnage will see us back on the familiar ground of Michael Crichton’s best-selling novel. When asked what we can expect recently, as well as the possibility of a reboot, Trevvorrow would only say:
It’s incredible to have Steven, who’s done this for decades and has such an incredible filmic knowledge and just understands the language of the story in a way that for us is very refreshing. It’s not like getting notes from a studio executive, it’s really just trying to crack this and make it the best it can be. We don’t want to create a new scoop here, but we definitely want to honor what came before us. We are very aware of how much a certain generation especially cares about this movie and we talk about it all the time and really the conversation is: It’s not about us, it’s not about our careers, it’s – how do we make something that can stand with the first one.
We may also have uncovered a very special teaser poster, harking back to John Hammond’s amber resin-covered insect trophy and the evolutionary step that “Life Found A Way”. There is no confirmation as yet, that this is indeed genuine and part of the studios’ early promo campaign. However, with Comic Con just around the corner, don’t be surprised to see these dotted around the convention centre and the San Diego sidewalks!

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
