Eerie Teaser Trailer For HBO Series ‘True Detective’ Starring McConaughey & Harrelson

More and more movie stars are beginning to recognise the step into to television is not always step down. Take the recent likes of Dustin Hoffman in LUCK and Kevin Bacon in THE FOLLOWING. HBO, certainly is one of the network channel’s that churns out some the gripping and emotional television, so have unveiled the first teaser trailer and image for the upcoming crime series, TRUE DETECTIVE. It stars genuine box-office draws in Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson (back together for the first time since Ron Howard’s underrated EDTV) as detectives on the trail of a serial-killer in Louisiana.

Creator Nic Pizzolatto, who’s worked on the acclaimed American transition of dark Danish drama, THE KILLING, has sought his inspiration from his home, Louisiana, as the suspense series sees pessimist Rust Cohle (McConaughey) and emotional family man Martin Hart (Harrelson) investigate a sadistic set of murders that began in 1995 and continues for 17 years. Pizzolatto claims, “It’s more about the detectives than it is about the killer. We trace both the case and the relationship [between the cops] and how they change – or don’t change – as the years progress.

The pilot is directed by Cary Fukanaga and is set to premiere on HBO early 2014.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
