Nolan’s ‘Dark Knight’ Does Not Exist In The World Of The ‘Man Of Steel,’ Says Goyer

Slight spoilers for MAN OF STEEL in this post.

So this is it folks, apparent confirmation that Christopher Nolan’s Batman definitely does not exist in the world of Zack Snyder’s MAN OF STEEL, all according to the screenwriter of both movies, David S. Goyer.

Speaking in an interview with MTV, Goyer, who wrote BATMAN BEGINS and provided the story for THE DARK KNIGHT and THE DARK KNIGHT RISES, as well as MAN OF STEEL, which arrives in cinemas this week, said the following:

“The ‘Dark Knight’ films do not exist in the same universe,”

“The fact that we have Wayne Industries on the satellite, Bruce Wayne exists in this universe. Lex Luthor exists in this universe. Other meta-humans do exist in this universe, so the hope is that we’ll be able to roll into some other films.”

So does that mean no Christian Bale in any JUSTICE LEAGUE movie (if one ever happens), and no Joseph-Gordon Levitt either. Perhaps. I believe that Nolan’s Batman trilogy is nigh on perfect and should absolutely be left alone, but read into this what you will, but  any future JL movie based around any of these characters all depends on this weekend’s box-office…

David Goyer is a writer, not a decision maker.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they do end up doing that though. Let’s not kid ourselves, using the Nolan Batman would bring huge interet from the general audience and WB is not dumb to not see that.
