It looks like we won’t see Carey Mulligan rocking her best first lady look after all, as It was revealed that the actress has turned down the role in a biopic about Hillary Clinton.
It was thought that Mulligan was offered the lead role in RODHAM after a meeting with the film’s director James Ponsoldt last week, but ‘sources’ revealed that Mulligan has declined the role, saying she can’t commit to it at this time. But the crew are not wasting time and the search for an actress to play Clinton will resume as soon as Ponsoldt and screenwriter for the project Young Il Kim finish a director’s draft. He will continue the search alongside producers Wyck Godfrey, Marty Bowmen and Richard Arlook.
RODHAM will follow Clinton as a young lawyer involved in the Richard Nixon impeachment, and her trying to juggle her career and her feelings for a certain future President of The United States. Names that have popped up in the search includes Scarlett Johansson, Jessica Chastain and Emma Stone.
