It looks like Reese Witherspoon and Sofia Vergara will be teaming up together to star in new buddy comedy DON’T MESS WITH TEXAS. Universal won the rights to the comedy spec script after a studio bid war broke.
DON’T MESS WITH TEXAS follows a cop and prisoner on the run in Texas, with crooked cops chasing after them. The film is expected to be a female driven cast and is being fast tracked by the studio so it can start shooting by March 2014 the latest. Witherspoon and Vergara will also have producing credits to their name, with Witherspoon taking on producing duty with her company Pacific Standard.
John Quaintance & David Feeney wrote the script, whose previous projects have mostly been television based. It is unclear on who is directing at this stage. It all looks very intriguing indeed…
