Leonardo DiCaprio is said to be in negotiations to join Oscar-winner Colin Firth in Matthew Vaughn’s adaptation of Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons’s comic book, THE SECRET SERVICE, which the KICK-ASS director also had a hand in the creation.

Firth is playing Uncle Jack, an aging British Secret Service spy who begins to mentor his young wayward nephew as his protege as a top government operative. DiCaprio is being eyed for the main protagonist, possibly something we’ll more of following his dastardly moustachioed villain Calvin Candie in Tarantino’s DJANGO UNCHAINED.

Shooting is set to begin in August from a script written by Vaughn and frequent collaborator Jane Goldman. It’s also recently been rumoured Aaron Tayor-Johnson has declined the role of the street punk nephew-turned-skilled secret agent.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
