When we heard that THE DAILY SHOW’s Jon Stewart would be making his directorial debut, we were very excited. Now the project is even more interesting with an announcement being made that Gael Garcia Bernal would be joining the project.
ROSEWATER is an adaptation of Maziar Bahar’s book Then They Came For Me: A Family’s Story Of Love, Captivity And Survival. It follows Bahar’s excruciating journey of when he left London to report on Iran’s elections back in 2009. Bahar ended up spending 118 days in a notorious Iranian prison where he was brutally interrogated by a man who Bahar could only define as smelling of ‘rosewater’.
The movie will be produced by Stewart’s Busboy Productions, alongside Scott Rudin. Stewart has one month left of production on THE DAILY SHOW and it is thought shooting for ROSEWATER will start afterwards.
