After the success (or, to some, failure) of THE MASTER, Paul Thomas Anderson is already working on his next project: INHERENT VICE. News surfaced today that Reese Witherspoon, Jena Malone and Martin Short have all added their names onto the already brilliant cast list.
The trio will be joing main man Joaquin Phoenix, Owen Wilson and Benicio Del Toro for the crime thriller. Adapted from the novel written by Thomas Pynchon, Phoenix will feature as a marijuana-favouring detective, hired to investigate the disappearance and murder of a girl he used to date. The only other confirmed role is Jena’s; she will be playing an ex-drug addict who goes to Phoenix for help. I have a sneaky feeling Reese will be playing the now-deceased ex-lover…
Of course, this wouldn’t be the first time Joaquin and Reese have worked together – WALK THE LINE, anyone?
Considering Jazmine grew up watching CARRY ON SCREAMING, THE LION KING and JURASSIC PARK on repeat for weeks on end, it made sense for her to study film at London South Bank University. It’s also a good thing that her course requires a lot of sitting down because she’s very accident-prone. When she’s not examining her bruises, she likes pretending that she doesn’t live in Southend-On-Sea and spends hours mindlessly blogging. Favourite films include BLUE VALENTINE, ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND and TOY STORY 2.
