I have massive love for John Cusack thanks to his roles in Cameron Crowe’s SAY ANYTHING and the brilliant black comedy, GROSSE POINT BLANK. He’s now signed on for two very different projects, the first being David Croneneberg’s celebrity-obssessed thriller MAP TO THE STARS, which will co-star Robert Pattinson, Sarah Gadon and Julianne Moore. It’s rumoured to be a very dark (no change for Cronenberg) take on the similar subject matter to Sofia Coppola upcoming THE BLING RING. Cusack’s taken the role Viggo Mortensen was unable to commit to.
Meanwhile, the actor will also appear as The Beach Boys troubled singer/songwriter Brian Wilson in Oren Moverman’s biopic, LOVE & MERCY. The film also has Paul Dano lined up to play a musical genius in his younger days and will look at Wilson’s long battle with mental illness, which was not helped by his drug addiction. Aaron Eckhart is also set to portray Wilson’s brother Dennis, the drummer of the band who tragically died in 1983
Expect both projects late 2014

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
