Silver Lining For Matthew Quick As New Novel Set For The Big Screen

Silver Linings Playbook It’s no surprise that the The Weinstein Company want another adaptation of a Matthew Quick novel, after the great success of SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK. The book they’ll be looking to adapt this time is Quick’s latest offering FORGIVE ME, LEONARD PEACOCK.

James Ponsoldt, who has directed Sundance hits SMASHED and THE SPECTACULAR NOW, will take on writing and directing duties. Ponsoldt has become a bit of a golden boy for TWC and has also been drafted in to adapt the 1970s musical PIPPIN, which is currently running on Broadway.

FORGIVE ME, LEONARD PEACOCK tells the story of a boy who, on his birthday, plans to take a gun to school and kill his former best friend and himself, so that’s jolly…The book is expected to be released in August, so don’t hold out for a quick film release any time soon.

You can also read our Exclusive interview with Matthew here, made just around the Oscar win of Jennifer Lawrence, it’s a great little insight from a great writer.
