I’m always weary about films that concern teaching, as they usually try and be too melodramatically inspirational and saccharine. I approached THE ENGLISH TEACHER trailer with some caution but was very happy to see that it looks like a funny and heartfelt comedy which avoids trying to have perfect characters. Julianne Moore plays a rundown English teacher who comes into contact with an ex-pupil whom she predicted great things for. She decides to help him turn his play into a school production, but things soon become complicated. From this trailer alone, it looks as though the film will be littered with an equal amount of witty dialogue, slapstick, and awkward situations. Hopefully the trailer hasn’t given too much away or used the best material. This will be the feature length directorial debut of Craig Zisk, who has built up a brilliant resume thanks to work on TV shows such as SCRUBS, ALIAS, THE OFFICE, WEEDS, NIP/TUCK, NEW GIRL, PARKS AND RECREATION, and AMERICAN HORROR STORY.
THE ENGLISH TEACHER is released 17th May in the US and is yet to receive a UK release date. It stars Julianne Moore, Greg Kinnear, Nathan Lane, Lily Collins, Michael Angarano, and Nikki Blonsky.

Luke likes many things, films and penguins being among them. He's loved films since the age of 9, when STARGATE and BATMAN FOREVER changed the landscape of modern cinema as we know it. His love of film extends to all aspects of his life, with trips abroad being planned around film locations and only buying products featured in Will Smith movies. His favourite films include SEVEN SAMURAI, PASSION OF JOAN OF ARC, IN BRUGES, LONE STAR, GODZILLA, and a thousand others.
