Here is the new trailer for the re-release of Harold Lloyd’s all time classic SAFETY LAST!
Even if you’ve not seen the film, or even heard of Lloyd, you will most likely have seen the iconic image of The Man clinging onto a clock face as he hangs perilously from the side of a building. To commemorate the movie’s 90th anniversary, Janus Films have painstakingly transferred the masterpiece from an original nitrate print to a new, fully restored digital version. Not only that, but Carl Davis’ score has also been lovingly preserved and together, they will grace cinemas across the summer, giving a new audience a rare chance to catch one of the all time great silent era movies in theatres.
Hang on tight for the trailer:
SAFETY LAST! was directed by Fred C Newmeyer and Sam Taylor. It was produced by Hal Roach and of course stars Harold Lloyd. It will be showing in selected US cinemas from April until July (details can be found here), alas there are no plans for UK distribution as yet. Have a poster.

John is a gentleman, a scholar, he’s an acrobat. He is one half of the comedy duo Good Ol’ JR, and considers himself a comedy writer/performer. This view has been questioned by others. He graduated with First Class Honours in Media Arts/Film & TV, a fact he will remain smug about long after everyone has stopped caring. He enjoys movies, theatre, live comedy and writing with the JR member and hetero life partner Ryan. Some of their sketches can be seen on YouTube and YOU can take their total hits to way over 17!
