Director of the last three FAST & FURIOUS films, Justin Lin, is attached to helm an adaptation of a Patrick Lee novel that is yet to be published. The book isn’t set to hit the shelves until the winter, and has just been auctioned off as part of a three-book-deal. The book (and probably film too) will see an ex-special operative named Sam Dryden forced to protect a young girl from a pursuing government agent. Patrick Lee’s first novel, THE BREACH, is currently being developed by David S. Goyer and Lorenzo di Bonaventura. The untitled Lin/Lee project will be produced by Michael De Luca.
I’ve kind of enjoyed Lin’s work on the FAST & FURIOUS franchise. I’m not a huge fan, but I certainly should have been bored of it by now. Even though the last film was riddled with poor writing and contrivances galore, I can’t help but be sucked into FAST AND FURIOUS 6. I think what we all have to keep in mind is that Lin directed one of the greatest TV episodes of anything ever with COMMUNITY’s ‘Modern Warfare’ episode.
FAST AND FURIOUS 6 is released 24th May 2013. Its stars Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Dwayne Johnson, Luke Evans, Michelle Rodriguez, Gina Carano, Jordana Brewster, Sung Kang, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, and a whole bunch of awesome cars.
