THE CANYONS has been steep in controversy since pre-production, what with hiring a porn star and one of Hollywood’s most spiraling stars as the lead characters. But top that with writer Bret Easton Ellis’ offensive twitter sprees, and Lindsay Lohan’s highly trashed television comeback, and nobody will able to watch it with a clear mindset.
Director Paul Schrader took to Facebook to talk about the film’s release and he admitted after The New York Times published an expose on Lohan’s behavior on the set, that it won’t be released for a while.
Despite the backlash towards the film, THE CANYONS has received a bit of a cult following already, with director Steven Soderbergh even offering to edit the film, which Schrader denied. James Deen, one of the stars of the film, put it down to ‘Schrader’s ego or something’.
How do you think THE CANYONS is going to play out? Will it be a car crash or cult classic?
