Next Season ‘Dexter’ May Not Be The End After All!

The seventh season of Showtime’s super serial-killer drama DEXTER has just concluded in the US to much shock and awe (don’t worry, no spoilers written here, but don’t watch the video below if you’ve yet to see season 7). The wrangling over contracts during 2011 saw lead Michael C. Hall finally commit to a further two seasons – a $20 million deal negotiated with Hall to return, with the network and many of the stars confident season 8 (which will air in September 2013) would be the last. When asked if the next series is the end and if he knows just how the show will pan-out for our favourite mass-murderer, showrunner Scott Buck hinted:

‘It might be the last. That hasn’t been announced yet. We’ve been picked up for one more season, but whether that is the last one or not has not yet been determined…, I know how it ends. But whether it’s this season or the next season or further down the line will remain to be determined. Dexter is a serial killer and serial killers only end in so many ways, and none of those ways seem to be particularly happy or encouraging. I think if we’re true to who Dexter is, we’re not going to end with Dexter walking off into the sunset’.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
