Josh Gad & Ryan Dixon To Write Treatment For ‘Twins’ Sequel ‘Triplets’

Ever since Arnold Schwarzenegger left politics and returned home to acting there has been talk of him returning to just about everyone of his popular films. We’ve heard he wants to go back to CONAN, but something that has been rumoured for years is a sequel to TWINS (1988), called TRIPLETS. THE BOOK OF MORMON star Josh Gad and Ryan Dixon are set to write a treatment for the proposed sequel, with a view towards Dixon writing the final script. The idea is to join Arnold Schwarzengger and Danny DeVito with a third brother, who will probably be black and most likely Eddie Murphy.

Speaking to Collider, Arnold Schwarzenegger had this to say about the project:

I’d find somebody like Eddie Murphy or someone [laughs] that people would say, ‘How does that happen, medically speaking?’ and, ‘Physically, there’s no way.’ Then somehow we would explain it. That would be hilarious with what we know about someone like him. You’ve got to find people that, in real life, people laugh about them and whatever we know about them that makes you laugh. I can see a poster, a billboard, with us three… ‘They found another one. TRIPLETSOnly their mother can tell them apart.’ I would do that in two seconds, because that’s real entertainment. You come out with that movie for Christmas, like December 5th or something like that, and you’re home free, just like with the other one.

Ivan Reitman is currently rumoured to be returning to the director’s chair, but we’ll have to wait and see how Dixon and Gad’s treatment pans out. I was never a huge fan of TWINS, and would personally prefer to see University Cop, or Jingle All The Way 2: Booster’s Revenge.
