The OLDBOY remake is coming, and if not for a new Park Chan Wook film coming out the same year, I may have felt a little down. These new set pictures do make the remake of the Korean classic look interesting. The shots show Elizabeth Olsen as a tattooed social worker and Brolin with a shaved head looking very dangerous. OLDBOY sees a man (Brolin) imprisoned without reason for 20 years. One day he is released, again with no reason, but is told by his captor that if he can discover why he was imprisoned, his captor will kill himself.
Although the Korean film became a phenomenon it was first a Japanese manga and Elizabeth Olsen says more inspiration is being drawn from the original source.Talking to Empire Podcast Olsen said:
It’s not trying to redo the film – it’s coming at it from a different point of view. As well as focusing on the primary source of the Korean film, for our film there’s also the Japanese Manga, so we’re using the primary source of the illustrated novel, really.
With Spike Lee directing, this is setting out to be its own individual beast.
OLDBOY is released 11th October 2013. It stars Josh Brolin, Elizabeth Olsen, Sharlto Copley, and Samuel L. Jackson.

His love of film extends to all aspects of his life, with trips abroad being planned around film locations and only buying products featured in Will Smith movies.
