‘Twilight’ To Get Reboot/Spin-off?

Studios seem increasingly reluctant to let their big cash cow projects go these days, and Lionsgate are apprently no different. There’s been rumours floating around for a while now that the studio was looking into rebooting their favourite glowing vampire film franchise, TWILIGHT, even though…you know…the last film, THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN – PART 2, hasn’t even come out yet. According to a Lionsgate/Summit Entertainment inside source the studio is looking into either creating a spinoff film or a TV series based in the universe but without any of the main characters. Instead they might focus on the Wolf Pack (HNGOVER meets TWILIGHT?) but nothing is set in stone yet. I’m not really surprised about these news, it is to an extent fairly logical that Lionsgate would be sad to see such a big source of revenue disappear. Creatively I don’t think it’s a good idea to run your properties into the ground just to squeeze out a bit more profit, but I’m sure all the Twihards will line up (or tune in every week) in droves despite the lack of Bella, Edward and Jacob. Of course, nothing has been confirmed yet, but I would still expect the official announcement to come in the near future.

THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN – PART 2 is directed by Bill Condon. It stars Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner, Michael Sheen, Dakota Fanning, Ashley Greene, and Billy Burke. It opens in UK cinemas on 16th November 2012.
