This is going to be one of the strangest articles that you’ll read on The Hollywood News this week. and while not 100% movie related, I found it intriguing enough to share. It has been revealed via this website that Bill Murray, yes he of GHOSTBUSTERS, LOST IN TRANSLATION and CADDYSHACK fame, finds nothing more amusing than to call actress Kelly Lynch every time that sex scene in the classic 1980s actioner ROAD HOUSE is played on television, which is, frankly… quite a lot.
In fact, Murray or one of his brothers (Brian Doyle Murray from SNL or MAD MEN’s Joel Murray), picks up the blower to give a bit of audio stick to Lynch’s husband, Mitch Glazer (who Murray worked with on the classic Christmas comedy SCROOGED) every time Swayze’s Dalton gets those hips swaying into Lynch to Otis Redding’s These Arms Of Mine in that aforementioned exploitation classic.
Here’s a quote from Kelly Lynch in a recent interview with The A.V. Club.
Every time Road House is on and he or one of his idiot brothers are watching TV — and they’re always watching TV — one of them calls my husband and says [In a reasonable approximation of Carl Spackler], “Kelly’s having sex with Patrick Swayze right now. They’re doing it. He’s throwing her against the rocks.” [Away from the receiver.] What? Oh, my God. Mitch was just walking out the door to the set, and he said that Bill once called him from Russia.
Brilliant. Just brilliant. I have other urges when that scene plays out, but how fantastic is this?
